Tiger Tales

Tiger Tales

The plight of the dwindling tiger population on our planet was highlighted by the Scotch College Year 4 art students in their recent exhibition of colourful collages, 'Tiger Tales'.

For six weeks the boys had been working with artist-in-residence, Rachel Zimmerman, whose unique paper creations inspired the boys to explore colour, shape and emotion in their works of art.

The project was tied in with their Unit of Enquiry, Gone but not Forgotten. There are now less than 400 Sumatran tigers in the world and it has been suggested that, unless the tigers' current rate of decline is reversed, tiger populations could be wiped out by 2015.

To raise money for Perth Zoo's Wildlife Conservation Action project and help save these magnificent beasts, Year 4 boys sold stunning cards made from copies of the collages at the exhibition.
